Stephen Hendry, the Conservative candidate, has won the by-election to elect a new Isle of Wight Councillor for the Whippingham & Osborne electoral division.

Conservatives win Central Wight by-election

The Isle of Wight Conservatives held on to their Central Wight seat after a by-election was called.

Steve Hastings won the seat with 547 votes.

 The Conservative Group of Isle of Wight councillors have published more details of their alternative budget proposals ahead of the budget-setting Full Council meeting on Wednesday 26th February.

IW Council: Look again at parking and leisure centre charges

Further details of the Isle of Wight Council Conservative Group’s alternative budget proposals have been announced with a suggestion from Cllr Wayne Whittle (Ryde North East) that leisure centres should be run on a “cost neutral” basis to secure their long term future and that proposed hikes in car parking charges should be looked at again.
